Most Anticipated July YA Books | 2018
Hi lovelies, I think I’m getting this month’s anticipated books post just under the wire! The last one was only a few days late…
Anywhoo! It’s that time again, where I share my most anticipated releases of the month, and my gosh there are some corkers in here!

Most Anticipated July YA Books 2018
LIFEL1K3 (Lifelike, #1) by Jay Kristoff Published by HarperTeen, Katherine Tegen Books, Thomas Nelson on July 26th 2018
Pages: 416
Goodreads
From the author of NEVERNIGHT and co-author of the bestselling Illuminae Files comes the first book in a new series that's part ROMEO AND JULIET, part TERMINATOR, and all adrenaline.
On an island junkyard beneath a cigarette sky, a deadly secret lies buried in the scrap.
Seventeen-year-old Eve isn’t looking for secrets; she’s already too busy looking over her shoulder. The robot gladiator she spent months building is a smoking wreck, and the only thing keeping her grandpa alive was the handful of credits she just lost to the bookies. Worst of all, she’s discovered she can destroy machines with nothing more than her mind, and a bunch of puritanical fanatics are building a coffin her size. If she’s ever had a worse day, Eve can’t remember it.
But when Eve discovers the ruins of a beautiful android boy named Ezekiel buried in the scrap pile she calls home, her entire world is turned upside down. With her best friend and her robotic sidekick in tow, she and Ezekiel will trek across deserts of irradiated glass, battle cyborg assassins, and scour abandoned megacities to save the ones Eve loves . . . and learn the dark secrets of her past.
Even if those secrets were better off staying buried.
Okay so I know this is already out in the US but it’s only just coming out in the UK TODAY! I’m so hyped for this. Jay Kristoff is awesome, and I do love a good Sci-Fi!

Fawkes by Nadine Brandes Published by Thomas Nelson on July 10th 2018
Pages: 448
Goodreads
Thomas Fawkes is turning to stone, and the only cure to the Stone Plague is to join his father’s plot to assassinate the king of England.
Silent wars leave the most carnage. The wars that are never declared, but are carried out in dark alleys with masks and hidden knives. Wars where color power alters the natural rhythm of 17th century London. And when the king calls for peace, no one listens until he finally calls for death.
But what if death finds him first?
Keepers think the Igniters caused the plague. Igniters think the Keepers did. But all Thomas knows is that the Stone Plague infecting his eye is spreading. And if he doesn’t do something soon, he’ll be a lifeless statue. So when his Keeper father, Guy Fawkes, invites him to join the Gunpowder Plot—claiming it will put an end to the plague—Thomas is in.
The plan: use 36 barrels of gunpowder to blow up the Igniter King.
The problem: Doing so will destroy the family of the girl Thomas loves. But backing out of the plot will send his father and the other plotters to the gallows. To save one, Thomas will lose the other.
No matter Thomas’s choice, one thing is clear: once the decision is made and the color masks have been put on, there’s no turning back.
Okay isn’t this just SO PRETTY?! It’s a retelling (well is it classed as a retelling?) of Guy Fawkes! It sounds simply marvellous!

Contagion (Contagion, #1) by Erin Bowman Published by HarperTeen on July 24th 2018
Pages: 432
Goodreads
It got in us
After receiving an urgent SOS from a work detail on a distant planet, a skeleton crew is dispatched to perform a standard search-and-rescue mission.
Most are dead.
But when the crew arrives, they find an abandoned site, littered with rotten food, discarded weapons…and dead bodies.
Don't set foot here again.
As they try to piece together who—or what—could have decimated an entire operation, they discover that some things are best left buried—and some monsters are only too ready to awaken.
AHHHH. I don’t really hide my enthusiasm for SPACE and VIRUS novels… and this is BOTH!? I haven’t had a chance to pick it up yet but it’s TOP OF THE LIST Y’ALL.

The Loneliest Girl in the Universe by Lauren James Published by HarperTeen on July 3rd 2018
Pages: 305
Goodreads
A surprising and gripping sci-fi thriller with a killer twist
The daughter of two astronauts, Romy Silvers is no stranger to life in space. But she never knew how isolating the universe could be until her parents’ tragic deaths left her alone on the Infinity, a spaceship speeding away from Earth.
Romy tries to make the best of her lonely situation, but with only brief messages from her therapist on Earth to keep her company, she can’t help but feel like something is missing. It seems like a dream come true when NASA alerts her that another ship, the Eternity, will be joining the Infinity.
Romy begins exchanging messages with J, the captain of the Eternity, and their friendship breathes new life into her world. But as the Eternity gets closer, Romy learns there’s more to J’s mission than she could have imagined. And suddenly, there are worse things than being alone….
Now nominated as a YALSA Quick Pick!
Okay so The Loneliest Girl in the Universe has been out in the UK for a while, but it’s just coming out in the US and this cover is AMAZING. I love it so much and this novel is spectacular. Definitely pick it up! Here’s my review!

Heart of Thorns (Heart of Thorns, #1) by Bree Barton Published by Katherine Tegen Books on July 31st 2018
Pages: 464
Goodreads
In the ancient river kingdom, touch is a battlefield, bodies the instruments of war. Seventeen-year-old Mia Rose has pledged her life to hunting Gwyrach: women who can manipulate flesh, bones, breath, and blood.
Not women. Demons. The same demons who killed her mother without a single scratch.
But when Mia's father suddenly announces her marriage to the prince, she is forced to trade in her knives and trousers for a sumptuous silk gown. Only after the wedding goes disastrously wrong does she discover she has dark, forbidden magic—the very magic she has sworn to destroy.
Heart of Thorns looks AMAZING. The cover looks so delicious, and I can’t wait to read it! Looks like it’s going to be an awesome fantasy.
