What’s in my YALC bag | YALC 2018
Hello friends! As I write this I’m on the train to LONDON! I am so hyped now that the stress of packing has gone. I really wanted to do this post and actually take some pictures of what’s in my bag but let’s be honest, I was still packing it right up until I left for the station.
There’s been so many helpful threads on Twitter on what to take to YALC and I LOVE hearing what everyone is taking, so I thought I’d share with you what I’m bringing in case there’s something you’ve missed.
What’s in my YALC bag
- My refillable water bottle. I never go anywhere without it. I took the same one to YALC last year and it was a life saver! Don’t waste your money buying bottles of water there (and also do a bit to save the environment!)
- Nature Valley Breakfast Bars. When I’m feeling peckish or a bit light headed from all the excitement, I have a nice, cheap snack on hand!
- Small Cool Bag. This is to keep my packed lunch in. With this heat I really want to try and keep it cool! I take babybels and a sandwich which sorts me out for the day, and really helps the bank!
- Battery packs. Multiple. I never go away without my battery packs!
- Books to be signed. I only took a few this year because, if I’m honest, I just didn’t want to bring that many for once!
- YALC Schedule. Yep I’m old school and have it printed so I can draw all over it with what I want to see!
- A pen. You never know when you might see an author wandering around and you just happen to have their book in your bag. Would be a nightmare if you asked them to sign it and you didn’t have a pen right?!
- Hand sanitiser. There’s a LOT of people at YALC. Just saying.
- Money. Duh.
- Deodorant. I hate being sweaty and stinky so this is a MUST in this weather.
- A fan. I almost didn’t have this as I ordered one of these amazing things from amazon but it almost didn’t arrive in time! I was literally getting in the car to the train station when the driver pulled up. I was beyond relieved!
- My Lanyard with my Twitter picture and handle on it. So people know who I am when they see me! I actually sell these in my Etsy Shop, Literary Galaxy!
- Pins. These are on my lanyard!
- Literary Galaxy Giveaways! That’s right! I’ll be doing some giveaways for my shop over the weekend, so make sure you follow Literary Galaxy on Twitter to be in for a chance!
- Lip Balm. Hate dry lips yo’.
I think that’s it! Wow that simultaneously seems like a lot and maybe not so much? What’s in your bag?

Reading your YALC posts like they’re the bible right now. I’m really torn with the water bottles, stupidly. My reusable one is glass and I don’t want to bring it around with me all day because a. it’ll be too heavy and b. I bet I’ll smash it. So I think I may have to just buy some plastic ones and know I’m being a bad person.
Good shout on the pen! And portable chargers are definitely a must!!
Ah yes I’d be nervous about bringing glass! Get a big plastic one? And refill it?
