Cliche Book Tag
Hey everyone! I’ve been a tad quiet with things lately – life gets in the way, go figure! I was tagged by @emmas_chapter to do the Cliche Book Tag!
I couldn’t find the original post where this came from or any rules, so basically:
- Link back and thank the person who tagged you
- Answer the questions below
- Tag some people to do the post themselves!
If I haven’t tagged you, please feel free to do it anyway <3

ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS
A Book That Wasn’t or Couldn’t Be Better Than The Movie

Harry Potter. I enjoy Harry Potter films but not in comparison to the books. There’s so much missed out and these days it could be even more magical! Plus I think a better actress for Ginny could do wonders (sorry).
THE GRASS IS ALWAYS GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE
A Rags to Riches or Riches to Rags Story

Okay so I’m probably missing some obvious ones here, but what’s popped into my head is Robin Hobb’s Farseer books. Fitz goes from rags to riches to rags to who knows what so many times and I just love it.
In terms of YA I think Everless would fall under this category. Check out my review if you haven’t already 💕 but this story really blew me away. I loved Jules, and I loved the whole concept of Time as Currency, leeching it from blood to create coins.
THE APPLE DOES NOT FALL FAR FROM THE TREE
A Parent/Child Relationship That You Love

I struggled with this one! So many parental relationships in YA are so so bad. Saying that, I managed to come up with one.
The Hazel Wood. I love how much Elle cares for and sacrificed for Alice. I won’t go into too much detail as I don’t wanna spoil. My spoiler free review for this is here.
YOU CAN’T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER
A Good Book That Needs a Better Cover
I am TERRIBLE for judging a book by its cover 😅 I’m going to have to look at my shelves for this to really give an honest answer.
Okay so I changed my mind about answering this one. Did you see the whole thing with Terry Goodkind being an asshat and calling out his ‘terrible’ cover? It’s not fair to the artist. So with that in mind I’m not going to answer this one.
YOU CAN’T PLEASE EVERYONE
A Book You Hate That Everyone loves
Hmmm. I don’t like being negative about books. However I couldn’t get more than 30 pages into Zenith before I had to abandon it. I plan on going back to it though.
WHAT DOESN’T KILL YOU MAKES YOU STRONGER
What’s a Book That Made You a Better Person For Having Read It
Unboxed by Non Pratt really resonated with me when I read it! Also The Exaxt Opposite of Okay by Laura Steven is just mind blowing!
IGNORANCE IS BLISS
A Book That Is Bad But You Just Don’t Want to Admit It
Okay I just don’t finish books that I didn’t enjoy. I also don’t like this kind of question as it’s quite a negative one – it also implies that I don’t have any integrity when it comes to being honest about disliking a hyped book? haha. So yeah – won’t be answering this one.
THERE IS NO TIME LIKE THE PRESENT
What is Your Favourite Contemporary Book?
I don’t read many contemporary but I LOVED When Dimple Met Rishi <3
BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY
A Book You Don’t Want to Read in Case It’s Bad
I don’t really think like this when it comes to books. I guess I always hope a book isn’t bad that I’m going to read? I guess for me I get this feeling with books by friends. I couldn’t imagine reading a friends book and not liking it… what would I do then? GAH.
Hope you enjoyed this post! Have you read any of these?

Ooh I’m loving these questions! Will add this to my list of posts for the next few months; thank you so much for tagging me xx
Yey I can’t wait to read it!
Wait, there are people out there that like Zenith? 😅
I mean, I thought there was? It was a bestseller
So glad I got an ARC. Would’ve been pissed at myself had I paid for it 😅 love your answers
Same! I got an ARC at YALC haha
I love When Dimple Met Rishi! 🙂 I loved reading your answers!
Thank you! I listened to it on Audible and I loved the narration, really added to it.
Ohhh, this is an interesting tag. (Gonna be honest, I feel bad for Bonnie Wright because the script for the HP movies didn’t give her scope. Honestly, Hermione was the only fleshed out female character in the movies when the books were the opposite.)
I mean yes I agree with you. It’s why I kind of hope that they’ll reboot HP but with some more consideration!
I absolutely adored When Dimple Met Rishi!(‘:
Same!
