Most Anticipated December YA Books | Blogmas

December YA Reads Blogmas

A new month means new books! There aren’t a huge amount of books that I’m super excited for this month, which is weird because you’d think there would be great releases in December leading up to Christmas?

Anyway, for day 2 of Blogmas I bring to you my most anticipated December YA books!

Plague Land
Plague Land (ReMade #1)

Leon and his younger sister Grace have just moved to London from New York when news of an unidentified plague begins to fill the news.
Within a week the virus hits London. People in the streets turn to liquid before their eyes, and what follows is a frantic hunt for a safety which may no longer exist.
A new gripping series from Alex Scarrow.
I’m so excited to read this! I was given an eARC on Netgalley and I can’t wait to read it. I LOVE virus books (I’m currently reading Mortal Coil) so this will definitely be next on my list.

The Young Queens (Three Dark Crowns, #0.5)The Young Queens (Three Dark Crowns 0.5)

Three black witches, born to a descending queen. One would rise to become queen in her place. Perhaps the strongest of the three. Perhaps the cleverest. Or perhaps it would be the girl born under the best shield of luck.
Katharine, Arsinoe and Mirabella – three young queens born to fulfil their destiny – to fight to the death to win the crown. But before they were poisoner, elemental and naturalist, they were children, sisters and friends.

AHHHH MORE FROM KENDARE BLAKE! I cannot WAIT to get this one. I haven’t actually read One Dark Throne yet (has someone got magic TBR shrinking powers ‘cos I need it) but I’ll be getting this as soon as it’s out!

The Love Letters of Abelard and LilyThe Love Letters of Abelard and Lily

When Lily Michaels-Ryan ditches her ADHD meds and lands in detention with Abelard, who has Asperger’s, she’s intrigued—Abelard seems thirty seconds behind, while she feels thirty seconds ahead. It doesn’t hurt that he’s brilliant and beautiful.
When Abelard posts a quote from The Letters of Abelard and Heloise online, their mutual affinity for ancient love letters connects them. The two fall for each other. Hard. But is it enough to bridge their differences in person?
This hilarious, heartbreaking story of human connection between two neurodivergent teens creates characters that will stay with you long after you finish reading.

This isn’t my current type of read but I had to add this to the list! Neurodivergent teens? I’m in. I just hope it does it justice! It’s had some great reviews so fingers crossed it’ll be as good as it’s hyped up to be.

Cloaked in Shadow (The Dragori, #1)

Cloaked in Shadow (The Dragori #1)

Romance. Magic. Lies.
For fans of elves, shapeshifters and elemental control.
Zacriah Trovirn is concerned with two things in life: hunting and dodging Petrer, the boy who broke his heart.
Heartbreak becomes a distant concern when Zacriah is taken to the Elven capital of Thessolina, where he is forced into King Dalior’s new legion of shapeshifters. But Zacriah isn’t a shapeshifter. In truth, he doesn’t know what he is.
Zacriah joins forces with new friends and they soon find themselves embroiled in a clash between the three Elven continents. With war looming on the horizon, Zacriah must learn to use his latent power to fight and protect those he loves before they are destroyed.

I did not realise this one was coming out so soon! I’ve been following Ben for a long time on social so I’m really excited for him to be living the dream! Gay Elves? I’m in!

What are you looking forward to this month? Let me know!

  1. I am excited about The Young Queens because I felt like there wasn’t much background in Three Queens when I read it so, I could really connect with it. I plan on reading the One Dark Throne soon before reading this one though. I am wanting to read Cloaked in Shadow. I have heard some really good thing about this book.

  2. Oo! I love the cover for Cloaked in Shadow and debated requesting it, but I’m trying to lay off fantasy for a while. I’m a bit fantasied-out, but I hope it’s good! 🙂

I’m quite interested in Plague Land. I love dystopians/post-apocs so that’s right up my alley. I hope it’s good and I look forward to a review on it. 🙂
