Anticipated Upcoming November YA Book Releases
Hello friends! It’s that time again, time to share with you some upcoming releases this month! As usual, I’ve not read all of these, and neither are these all the books coming out this month. They are just a select few I think look interesting and may be excited for.
Without further ado, here are some exciting YA books being released in November!

Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan Published by Jimmy Patterson Books on November 6th 2018
Genres: Young Adult, Fantasy
Pages: 336
Goodreads
Each year, eight beautiful girls are chosen as Paper Girls to serve the king. It's the highest honor they could hope for...and the most cruel.
But this year, there's a ninth girl. And instead of paper, she's made of fire.
In this lush fantasy, Lei is a member of the Paper caste, the lowest and most oppressed class in Ikhara. She lives in a remote village with her father, where the decade-old trauma of watching her mother snatched by royal guards still haunts her. Now, the guards are back, and this time it's Lei they're after--the girl whose golden eyes have piqued the king's interest.
Over weeks of training in the opulent but stifling palace, Lei and eight other girls learn the skills and charm that befit being a king's consort. But Lei isn't content to watch her fate consume her. Instead, she does the unthinkable--she falls in love. Her forbidden romance becomes enmeshed with an explosive plot that threatens the very foundation of Ikhara, and Lei, still the wide-eyed country girl at heart, must decide just how far she's willing to go for justice and revenge.
TW: violence and sexual abuse.
Ahhhh I LOVED Girls of Paper and Fire! Girls loving girls and fighting and Kings? You NEED THIS BOOK IN YOUR LIFE. I honestly couldn’t put it down. Also that cover is just so GORGEOUS! Please trust me when I say you need to pick this book up and read it.

This fairy tale retelling lives in a mystical world inspired by the Far East, where the Dragon Lord and the Serpent God battle for control of the earthly realm; it is here that the flawed heroine of Forest of a Thousand Lanterns finally meets her match. An epic fantasy finale to the Rise of the Empress novels.

Empress of All Seasons by Emiko Jean Published by HMH Books for Young Readers on November 6th 2018
Genres: Young Adult, Fantasy
Pages: 384
Goodreads
In a palace of illusions, nothing is what it seems.
Each generation, a competition is held to find the next empress of Honoku. The rules are simple. Survive the palace’s enchanted seasonal rooms. Conquer Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. Marry the prince. All are eligible to compete—all except yōkai, supernatural monsters and spirits whom the human emperor is determined to enslave and destroy.
Mari has spent a lifetime training to become empress. Winning should be easy. And it would be, if she weren't hiding a dangerous secret. Mari is a yōkai with the ability to transform into a terrifying monster. If discovered, her life will be forfeit. As she struggles to keep her true identity hidden, Mari’s fate collides with that of Taro, the prince who has no desire to inherit the imperial throne, and Akira, a half-human, half-yōkai outcast.
Torn between duty and love, loyalty and betrayal, vengeance and forgiveness, the choices of Mari, Taro, and Akira will decide the fate of Honoku in this beautifully written, edge-of-your-seat YA fantasy.
An Empress of All Seasons looks to be awesome! A competition to win the hand of the prince? Secrets, hidden powers? I’m in.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald: The Original Screenplay by J.K. Rowling on January 1st 1970
Genres: Young Adult, Fantasy
Goodreads
At the end of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald was captured in New York with the help of Newt Scamander. But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escapes custody and sets about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings.
In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore enlists Newt, his former Hogwarts student, who agrees to help once again, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.
This second original screenplay from J.K. Rowling, illustrated with stunning line art from MinaLima, expands on earlier events that helped shaped the wizarding world, with some surprising nods to the Harry Potter stories that will delight fans of both the books and films.
I’ve never read any of the Fantastic Beasts screen plays but it comes out in November and as a die hard Harry Potter fan I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention it? I’m looking forward to seeing the film (minus Johnny Depp). I kinda wish they’d redo the original Harry Potter films with today’s special effects.

Amber & Dusk by Lyra Selene Published by Scholastic Press on November 27th 2018
Genres: Young Adult, Fantasy
Pages: 368
Goodreads
Sylvie has always known she deserves more. Out in the permanent twilight of the Dusklands, her guardians called her power to create illusions a curse. But Sylvie knows it gives her a place in Coeur d'Or, the palais of the Amber Empress and her highborn legacies.
So Sylvie sets off toward the Amber City, a glittering jewel under a sun that never sets, to take what is hers.
But her hope for a better life is quickly dimmed. The empress invites her in only as part of a wicked wager among her powerful courtiers. Sylvie must assume a new name, Mirage, and begin to navigate secretive social circles and deadly games of intrigue in order to claim her spot. Soon it becomes apparent that nothing is as it appears and no one, including her cruel yet captivating sponsor, Sunder, will answer her questions. As Mirage strives to assume what should be her rightful place, she'll have to consider whether it is worth the price she must pay.
I hadn’t heard of Amber and Dusk before I was researching for this post, but I had to include it as it looks like it’s going to be brilliant! I adore magic fantasy!

The Wren Hunt by Mary Watson Published by Bloomsbury USA Childrens on November 6th 2018
Genres: Young Adult, Fantasy
Pages: 432
Goodreads
Every Christmas, Wren is chased through the woods near her isolated village by her family's enemies—the Judges—and there’s nothing that she can do to stop it. Once her people, the Augurs, controlled a powerful magic. But now that power lies with the Judges, who are set on destroying her kind for good.
In a desperate bid to save her family, Wren takes a dangerous undercover assignment—as an intern to an influential Judge named Cassa Harkness. Cassa has spent her life researching a transformative spell, which could bring the war between the factions to its absolute end. Caught in a web of deceit, Wren must decide whether or not to gamble on the spell and seal the Augurs’ fate.
I’ve seen Wren Hunt around book twitter for a while and so I had to include it in this post. It has an interesting premise and I’m looking forward to hearing more about it.

That’s it! There doesn’t seem to be many books coming out in November that I’ve heard of/ am interested in, are there some I’ve missed? Which are you looking forward to?
