The One Book That I’m Buying Everyone This Christmas
Guest Post by Kayleigh
For Blogmas day 3 I have a lovely guest post by Kayleigh! I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did, and check out her blog too.

The Truth Pixie by Matt Haig
I love giving books as gifts; they’re something that everyone deserves and a lot of thought can go into choosing the right book for each person. However, this Christmas, there is one book that without hesitation has made its way onto my shopping list for rather a lot of people. It’s a children’s book, it has black and white illustrations and it’s not very long at all, but for something so small, it’s filled with so much.

From number one bestselling author Matt Haig comes a hilarious and heartwarming story, brilliantly illustrated throughout by Chris Mould Wherever she is, whatever the day, She only has one kind of thing to say. Just as cats go miaow and cows go moo, The Truth Pixie can only say things that are true.
The Truth Pixie is beautiful and is a book that I would love for everyone to read. It’s about finding the light in the dark and is such a powerful little book – “Reasons to Stay Alive for 7 year olds” is a brilliant way to summarise it! I think what I love about it too is that it is open to interpretation; different pages can speak volumes to different people and you can take what you need from it. There are aspects that would help someone suffering with anxiety and worry, depression and sadness, grief…the list goes on.
If I can persuade you to buy any book this Christmas, whether as a treat for yourself, on your list to Father Christmas or as a gift for someone else (I did see on Twitter a wonderful idea of giving a copy of this book as a party bag!), please let it be this one. I’ve seen copies in the supermarkets and online at bargain prices making it affordable and beyond value for money; what you get from this book is worth so much more.

I’ve seen this one around a bit but I haven’t read it yet!! I really want to though.
Same I’ve only heard good things!
I have it on hold at my library now actually but they’re all still on order. They don’t have copies yet 😧 hopefully soon.
Ohhh that’s a good idea I might check my library! I hope it comes in yours soon
Thanks for the review, this book looks great. Do you have any other reccomendations?
Hey! It really is a fantastic book. The first book that comes to mind is Worries Go Away by Kes Gray which is one of my favourite books of all time! It’s all about anxiety and how sharing your problems helps to get rid of them. Going on some themes in The Truth Pixie, Rabbityness by Jo Empson which is a beautiful picture book about grief and how people never truly leave us, and The Red Tree by Shaun Tan which touches upon depression and anxiety. Hope they’re okay – I can go on with books for older readers too haha!
I’ll have a look out for it as I know someone who needs this sort of book
What a great idea. The holidays are hard for a lot of people. We could all use a bit of encouragement! 😊
This looks like a perfect gift to give for the holidays. Thanks for sharing Kayleigh! 🙂
