Seeing Jupiter | Ramblings about Space
Hey guys, a bit of a random from me. If you know me at all you know I’m obsessed with space, and this post is, you guessed it, about space.
Life’s been pretty intense recently and I’ve struggled to read as much as I’d like so I thought I’d bring you a post about something else I love.
Do you ever just look up at the moon and stars? I do and I love it so much. Stars are so magical, some are so far away they could technically not exist anymore – we’re just seeing their ghosts. It’s the closest to time travel we’ll ever be.
The other night I looked up and saw Jupiter.
That little dot next to the moon? That’s Jupiter. Full disclosure – when I saw it I initially thought it could have been Venus or Jupiter, but after checking with my handy star map I discovered it was Jupiter.
Now I don’t own any fancy telescopes or anything, but I’ve always been fascinated by space. I turned on notifications on a Twitter account called @VirtualAstro years ago because they give 3 minute warnings on when the ISS is passing overhead, and have literally ran out to watch it.
Once I even got a picture:
I took these on my iPhone about 4 years ago, I think I was extremely lucky to get such a clear pic! I have never managed to get one since.
The Crew on the station at the time were Expedition 37 and Expedition 36.

According to their itinerary they were asleep at the time they passed over, though I did give them a little wave!
Karen Nyberg actually did a pretty cool video from the ISS of her washing her hair in space, you should check it out. It’s fascinating!

I love space too! More specifically, constellations. I’ve always loved studying those!
It’s just so amazing to me that there’s so much out there. Whenever I look through a telescope or even just up at the sky I always wonder how people doubt the existence of other life out there. The universe is too big for just us!

Space is such an awesome topic. My fiance is really into space and he’s told me a lot about it. Every time we’re out at night and can see stars, he always tells me of the different constellations which is really awesome!
