Newbie Blogger Spotlight – Get to Know Kate

Hi friends! It’s time for first Newbie Blogger Spotlight of the year! Today’s post is by Kate, and she will be doing the Book Blog Newbie Tag. Make sure you check out her blog after and support a new blogger!

My name is Kate. I got into book blogging by accident when I wrote a couple of posts on word press and found that I enjoyed it. I love taking part in readathons and love writing. What interests me about book blogging is that I can share my ideas on books that I have read. I can find out what other people think of books I have read and on top of that I can find out what others are reading and get ideas for what to read next. Sure, I may not be the most active or regular book blogger but I am hoping to change that in the New Year. Books help me to escape and love hearing other peoples thoughts in books I have read and loved or even ones I didn’t.

I thought I would draw my hand at allowing you to get to know me a little with a book blog newbie tag. So here it is

1. Why did you start this blog?

As I mentioned briefly above I wanted to be able to write my thoughts and views on books that I have read in a place where they can be enjoyed by others. On top of that I love knowing what others thought of my favourite books and how peoples opinions differ from mine.

2. What are some fun and unique things you can bring to book blogging?

I am not sure about being fun or unique but I often get rather passionate or annoyed at things that happen in books, especially to characters that I like.

3.What are you most excited for about this new blog?

Basically just being able to share my thoughts and ideas with other book lovers and find out just how they think or rate my favourite books.

4. Why do you love reading?

Simply because you can travel to so many different worlds, meet new characters, make friends and you don’t have to leave the warmth of your living room to do it.

5. What book or series got you into reading?

What springs to mind for this question are two different books and those being Charlotte’s Web by E. B White and Come to the Circus by Enid Blyton

6. What questions would you ask your favourite authors?

This is a rather tricky question and I am not really sure how to answer it. I think I would much rather just sit down with a cup of tea and simply talk to them about their books and ideas and see what questions crop up from simple conversation.

7. What challenges do you think starting a blog will be the hardest to overcome?

Posting regularly, as I am the biggest procrastinator that I know and never seem to get anything done. Although at the same time I hate not getting things done, so hopefully that will start cancelling it out after a while.

8. When did you start reading?

Around the young age of about 5 or 6. I can’t remember not reading. I used to read those Key Stage books you get at school about Biff, Chip and Kipper.

9. Where do you read?

Usually on the sofa with a cup of tea, in the winter and cold weather I curl up under a blanket and read on the sofa still. Sometimes I do read in bed.

10. What kind of books do you read?

I love thrillers, horror, contemporary and fantasy. I read basically everything, except Science Fiction. I am not fussy as long as I enjoy the story and the characters are well established and relatable. Hope this is okay. You may have to check the spelling as I wrote this up on my phone and can’t spell check and sometimes mis spell words.
