Your creative retreat awaits…

It’s nearly April, which means it’s nearly time for Camp Nano!

What is Camp Nano?!
I hear you cry! Well it’s like NaNoWriMo – only it is it’s fun cousin that comes out in the spring and summer!

Well, what is NaNoWriMo for that matter? National Novel Writing Month that takes place every November. In the month of November you have to write 50,000 words of your novel.

I attempted it in November, and failed, miserably, with a measly 4500 words. So when I heard about Camp Nano, where you can choose your wordcount, I jumped right in!

Setting my goal at a slightly gentler 25,000 – I have been planning my novel for a month. Now, I tried this last time, yet I failed. However, now there is a difference. I have found a lovely bunch of people on GaiaOnline, who all participate in NaNoWriMo. It’s like a support group, and not just for writing. They are friends who understand the trials and tribulations of trying to get a plot down.

It’s a wonderful experience, talking to so many writers, because we all do it differently! Hearing how they do it helps figure out ways to do it yourself, and also helps them with new ways! Without these guys – I would be lost.

We also motivate each other with Word Wars and RETs (Random Excerpt Time). We even had a Quote insertion competition, which I suppose is pretty self explanatory – we have to insert these random quotes into our novels.

With Camp, we get put into cabins. Now, we get to select 5 people we want to be in there with, though we may not get everyone we choose, as well as 6 other people we have never spoken to before. I’m really looking forward to this because I love being in a group of writers! This selection takes place tomorrow, so I am rather excited!

imagineThis is just a sort of introductory post, as for the month of April I will be aiming to post daily, with something Nano related. Whether it be writing advice, plotting advice (like using voice memos, who knew?!) or just general woes and struggles that I am facing that day.

If you are a fellow camper, then good luck! Please feel free to comment, like or whatever – I’d love to hear about your novel and offer any advice if you need any! Happy camping!
